Soon, iPhone and Android users will be able to make calls from almost any location, thanks to Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.
Starlink connects phones directly to satellites, so there’s no need for traditional cell towers. This means users can use their regular smartphones instead of expensive satellite phones. Recently, the FCC gave SpaceX permission to work with T-Mobile to offer this service in places with little or no coverage.
Tests show that Starlink works well with popular phone brands like Apple, Samsung, and Google. Even older phones can use the service, which is helpful during emergencies or in areas without good networks.
Since Starlink satellites are closer to Earth, they provide fast connections with less delay, making calls and data usage smoother.
Although some astronomers worry about its impact on the night sky, Starlink could change global communication, especially for people in remote or underserved areas.
