Trump Warns BRICS with 100% Tariffs Over U.S. Dollar Challenge

Trump warns BRICS nations of 100% tariffs if they attempt to replace the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency, emphasizing his commitment to maintaining dollar dominance.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again issued a strong warning to BRICS nations, threatening 100% tariffs if they attempt to replace the U.S. dollar as the world’s dominant reserve currency.

In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump made it clear that he expects BRICS countries to commit to maintaining the dollar’s global supremacy. The BRICS alliance—consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—has recently expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Indonesia. These nations have been actively exploring alternatives to the U.S. dollar, particularly in response to Western sanctions on Russia.

Trump’s firm stance highlights his administration’s dedication to preserving the dollar’s role in global trade and finance. He has also hinted at imposing tariffs on Canada and Mexico, citing concerns over illegal drug trafficking and immigration.

Despite BRICS’ ongoing efforts to reduce their reliance on the U.S. dollar, a report from the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center confirms that the dollar remains the world’s leading reserve currency. However, as geopolitical ensions rise, the global economic landscape continues to shift, keeping investors and policymakers on high alert.
